Bobby Dean Crosson

Lieutenant Commander Bobby Dean Crosson, USN, Ret., age 73, died May 9, 2008, at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, KS. He was born on November 3, 1934 in Dighton, KS. the fourth child of Lee and Blanche (Gatten) Crosson. He graduated from Dighton High School in 1952 and joined the US Navy. He retired after having served in Naval Aviation for 21 years during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam war. He married Betty Jo Stickels in 1954. They were divorced and he married his high school sweetheart, Janeice (Keady) Webster on June 5, 1978 in Golden, CO. He was a volunteer with the Pottawatomie County Rural Fire Dept. #7 for many years, volunteered as a Scout Master, and was a past member of the St. George Black Jack American Legion and several other organizations. He shared his love of nature and sports with his family and friends. Holding him in loving memory are his wife, Janeice of their home in Wamego; his children and their spouses, George and Debbi Crosson of Rangley, ME, Max and Pam Crosson, Jody and Jeff Salmons, Brenda and Mike Riggs of Virginia Beach, VA, Kelly and Keith Blankley of Wamego, KS, and Mike and Shellie Crosson of Yorktown, England; his step-children, Richard Webster of Riley, KS, Kevin Webster of Abilene, TX, Julie and Dan Riniker of Wamego, KS; and two sisters, Marletta Bush of Dighton, KS and Marty and Frank Petersen of Garden City, KS, as well as 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and many friends. A visitation for family and friends celebrating Bobby’s life will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A private inurnment will be Wednesday in Wamego City Cemetery. A memorial in has been established for the Wamego Public Library and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
