Alma- Dorothy E. Kratzer, 87, lifetime resident of Alma passed away Saturday May 10, 2008 at Alma Manor.
Born on July 3, 1920, in Alma, she was the daughter of August and Marie (Palenske) Kratzer. She attended and graduated from Wabaunsee High School and later attended Concordia Teacher’s College and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She then became a school teacher at St. John’s Lutheran School and taught children there for fifty years before retiring. When Dorothy wasn’t teaching she loved to travel. She owned a rock collection and was intrigued by geology. She also enjoyed sewing and photography.
Survivors include: her niece, Wanda Parish and husband Larry of Manhattan, KS; her nephew, David Johnson and wife Pam; and her great nieces and nephews, Eric Parish, Jason, Jeremy, Jennifer and Janelle Johnson.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. May 14th at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Alma with burial following in the Lutheran Cemetery in Alma. A visitation will be held the night before at Stewart Funeral Home in Alma from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Dorothy will lie in state at the funeral home starting at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.
