Virginia Aline Knecht, 93, formerly of Wamego, Kansas, died May 8, 2008 at the Frasier Meadows Health Care Center in Boulder, CO.
Virginia was born January 3, 1915 the third of four children, to Thomas Arthur and Pansy (LaBrue) Case on the family farm north of Nickerson, KS. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Kansas State University, her Masters Degree from Emporia State Teachers College, and was a Delta Kappa Gamma member. She taught physical education in Topeka, KS for many years and later was a guidance counselor in Lawrence, KS. Virginia married John C. Knecht on February 7, 1942.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, loved playing the piano and was an avid sports enthusiast. She had been a resident of Boulder, CO since 2002 and previously lived in Hot Springs Village, AK.
Survivors include her son, Larry R. Knecht and his wife Sandra, of Nederland, CO.
A graveside service for Mrs. Knecht will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 15 at the Wamego City Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties or the Residents Assistance Fund at Frasier Meadows Manor, and my be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, P.O.
