Angela Coffman, 93, formerly of Wamego, passed away Friday June 20, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Lees Summit, Missouri.
Born on January 31, 1915, in Kahler, Russia, she was the daughter of Andrew and Anna Marie Bellinder. Her family immigrated to Wamego from Russia in July 1923. On May 16, 1940, she married Paul “Joe” Coffman. Together the couple owned and operated Coffman Furniture for several years. Angela was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and also a member of the Altar Society. Joe preceded her in death in 1989.
She is survived by: her daughter, Janice Berberich and her husband Ted of Lees Summit, MO; her son, Paul J. Coffman Jr. and his wife Sharon of Corona, CA; her sister, Elizabeth Bellinder of San Bernardino, CA; and her nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Angela was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Miller, her son, Larry Coffman, two brothers, and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday June 24th, 2008 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego. Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. The Rosary will be said Monday evening at Stewart Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. She will not lie in state prior to the visitation. A memorial has been established in Angela’s name for St. Bernard’s Church Building Fund and contributions may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
