Claude Lee Pearcy, 83, formerly of the Wamego area, passed away Saturday June 28, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Cottonwood Falls.
He was born on November 30, 1924 in Stevens County, Kansas the son of Roy and Haddie Mae (Holloway) Pearcy. He attended schools in Liberal, Kansas and soon joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. In January 1972, he married Aileen Hubbell. The couple lived in Lawrence, Silver Lake, Rossville, and Wamego. Claude worked with the Tonganoxie Sheriff’s Department for several years. Aileen preceded him in death on March 9, 2004.
He is survived by: his five children, Ronnie, Donnie, Beverly, Gary and Diane; his four step-children, Dan Hubbell, Claudia Wilch, Pam Moody, and Tanya Johnson; his brother, Harold Pearcy; his two sisters, Mary Alice and Margaret Lucille; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Claude was preceded in death by his son Donnie, his brothers Earl, Glen, Lloyd, and Clarence and his sisters, Viola, Mabel, Myrtle and Mildred.
A graveside inurnment will be held Wednesday July 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Jenkins Admantha Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Claude’s name for the charity of the donor’s choice, and contributions may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
