Douglas "Doug" Paul Morrison

Douglas “Doug” Paul Morrison, 58, of Wamego, Kansas passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Wamego Health Center.   Doug was born on December 23, 1955 in Cascade, Idaho, the son of Frank D. and Lavonna P. (Eyrich) Morrison. He attended school in Manhattan, graduating from Manhattan High School in 1974. After high school he moved to the Northwest in 1977, where he worked on his grandparent’s farm during the summers along with working as a small engines repairman until 1981, before returning to Manhattan. Doug was employed by Manhattan Steel and Pipe. He then began working at Hardman Lumber and also owned and operated Red’s Excavation. He later began working for Shillings Construction and then for Bayer Construction all before going to work for Wabaunsee County Road and Bridge for the last 15 years. Doug was married to Eda L. Bocksnick, his wife of 21 years. She survives of the home.   Doug loved animals, especially their horses. He enjoyed being outdoors and in his younger years loved jeeping in the Northwest. Doug treasured being a part of the rural community and the close ties with family, friends and neighbors.   Doug is also survived by his two step-children: Rachelle Goodale (Gerry) of Enterprise, KS and Lee Bocksnick of Jamestown, KS; four step-grandchildren; three sisters: Diana Havenstein (Steve) of Joplin, MO, Christine Morrison of Taiwan and Janice Britt of Lawrence, KS; two brothers: Eric Morrison of Jordan Valley, OR and Ed Morrison of Boise, ID; four nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Greg Havenstein. Doug’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life for Doug will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Black Jack Hills Recreation, St. George, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pottawatomie County Caring Hearts Humane Society and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, KS, PO Box 48, 66547.
