Judy Rush of Ft. Collins, Colorado, formerly of Wamego, Kansas, died April 22, 2014 at the age of 73. Judy was the loving wife of John Marvin Rush, who proceeded her in death, and mother to JaNiece Rush-Frank, of Summit, NJ, Mike Rush of Fort Collins, CO, and Jennifer Rush of Wamego, KS. Judy also leaves behind four grandchildren, Zach and Eliza Frank, and Cate and Ben Rush.
Judy was born May 11, 1940 to John and Doris Duncan of Wamego, KS. Judy attended school in Wamego. She earned her BSE in 1962 and her MSE in 1969 from Emporia State College.
Judy taught speech, debate, forensics, yearbook production and English for 35 years at Silver Lake, Alma, St. Marys, and Wamego High Schools. While at Wamego High School, Judy was also the faculty sponsor of the National Honor Society. Judy retired from Wamego High School in 1998. Judy and Marvin also owned several successful businesses and loved antiquing.
Judy was a member of the Front Range Baptist Church in Fort Collins. Judy spent the majority of her life in Wamego and raised her children there. In 2006, she and Marvin moved to Ft. Collins to be closer to two of their grandchildren and their son. Judy touched many lives and guided many young minds in northeast Kansas, she will best be remembered as the strong and encouraging teacher.
Judy chose to be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Inurnment will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery, where she will join Marvin in rest. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wamego Public Library and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
