Everett Eugene Boyce

Everett E. Boyce, 89, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society in Wamego. Everett was born December 19, 1924 in Junction City, KS, the son of W.R. and Ethel (Breen) Boyce. He grew up and attended Alida Grade School before moving and graduating from Wamego High School in 1942. After high school Everett began farming for his family in the Wamego area along with also helping on his relative’s farm in the Junction City area. On November 11, 1948, in Junction City, Everett was united in marriage to Viola M. Berggren. She survives of the home. Everett and Viola moved to the Wamego area in 1958. Everett worked as a farmer and dirt contractor throughout the area for many years, before retiring in 2009. He was also a volunteer fireman for several years and a past member of the Rock Creek Drainage Board. Everett enjoyed hunting quail and loved to go fishing. Everett is also survived by his daughter: Sandy Corwin and husband Paul of Overland Park, KS; two sons: Robert Boyce of Belvue, KS and Bill Boyce and wife Christy of Wamego; eight grandchildren: Heather Schulte, Erin Corwin, Charles, Joseph and Anna Boyce, Bethany Garren, Nathen Boyce and Rachele Thompson and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Loraine. Funeral services for Everett will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow at the Wamego City Cemetery. He will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, where family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547, Wamego, KS.
