Larry Michael Fager

Larry Michael Fager, 63, of rural Manhattan, Kansas, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. Larry was born March 21, 1951 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Lawrence Vernon and Dorothy Ann (Holt) Fager. He grew up in Abilene and attended school there, graduating from Abilene High School. He attended Kansas State University, where he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. On August 16, 1975, he married Cheryl Thomas of Wamego, they were divorced in 1996. Larry married Prudence Niedfeldt on September 24, 2000 at Lake Elbo of Manhattan. She survives of the home. Larry worked as a supervisor for Steel & Pipe Supply Company in both Manhattan and Tulsa, OK for 30 years before going to work for Manko Windows in Manhattan, where he served as a supervisor building windows and doors. Larry was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Wamego and served as an elder. He was also a board member of the Green Valley Association. Larry enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandchildren and loved playing solitaire. In his younger years, Larry enjoyed hunting and playing softball. Spending time with his family was the most important thing to Larry. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his three daughters: Charisse (Fager) Holt and husband Mark of Broken Arrow, OK; Erin (Fager) Boyd and husband James of Tulsa, OK and Gini (Farrar) Harold and husband Davitt of Clay Center, KS; three grandchildren: Keith Boyd and Reagan and Carter Holt; two sisters: Jane Haney and husband Harlow of Carlton, KS and Verna Bender and husband Don of Abilene, KS; one brother: Bob Fager and wife Jackie of Lee Summit, MO and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in-law, Harold Niedfeldt. Funeral services for Larry will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Wamego. Burial will follow at the Wamego City Cemetery. Larry will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday, where family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Wamego and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
