Marjorie Rose Machin, 89, of Wamego, KS passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Wamego City Hospital following a short illness.
Marjorie was born on February 24, 1919 the daughter of George M. and Lillian (Bingman) Shea, on her family farm in the Rock Creek area near Flush, KS. She attended Gasser Rural School near her childhood home.
She married Robert Glenn Machin in Topeka, KS on October 8, 1941. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2002. Marjorie was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family, grandkids and great-grandkids very much. She was a member of the Wamego United Methodist Church and the Wamego Senior Center, where she and her husband were very active. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially pitch. Marjorie also worked for over 10 years at KSU as the food service supervisor in Derby Hall, until her retirement.
Marjorie’s survivors include her children, Jana Machin, San Francisco, CA, Lana Bays, Topeka, KS, Glenna Machin, Paxico, KS, and Tod Machin, Kansas City, KS; 4 grandchildren, Stacie Condrey and her husband Jon, Jennifer Ebert and husband Brian, Jeff Fouraker and his wife Kristi, and Jena Fouraker; and 10 great-grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Abby and Adam Condrey, Emelee and Breleigh Ebert, Charleigh, Delaney, Jaxson and Cooper Fouraker. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, John, George and Loran Shea, and one sister, Edith Hilliard.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Machin will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27 in the Wamego City Cemetery. The family will greet friends during a visitation at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the procession to the cemetery at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for the Wamego Community Health Ministry, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home P.O.
