Leroy A Sickels

Manhattan- Leroy A. Sickels, 69, died August 29, 2008 at Westmoreland Community Care Home. Born on February 23, 1939 in Athol, Kansas, he was the son of Arthur and Eloise (Carden) Sickels. On November 3, 1968, he married Anita Ringel in Westmoreland. Leroy worked for several years at K-State as a stone mason. He and Anita both were members of the square dance club in Manhattan. Anita preceded him in death in 1999. Survivors include: his step-daughter, Tonya Moore; his brother Paul Sickels; his half sister Lorraine Schulte; his Aunts, Dorothy Swatzell and her husband Cecil and Pat Eller; one grandchild; one niece, one nephew and several cousins. In addition to his wife, Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and grandfather Milton Sickels. A Graveside Memorial Service will be Wednesday September 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan. There will be a memorial gathering starting at 9:00 a.m. prior to services at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. A memorial has been established in Leroy’s name for the American Heart Association and may be left in care of the funeral home P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
