Charles E. "Bud" Miller

Charles E. “Bud” Miller, 89, of Wamego and Belvue, KS, passed away Saturday, August 2nd at Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland, KS. Bud was born Nov. 7, 1924 in Wamego, the son of Edgar P. and Genevieve (Corlett) Miller and lived his entire life in Wamego and Belvue, KS. He was in the class of 1943 at Wamego High School and was crowned the homecoming king. On August 12, 1945, Bud and Joan Marie Craig were united in marriage in McFarland, KS, and together had five children. Joan preceded him in death in 1994. Bud worked for Balderson, Inc. as a parts cutter beginning in 1951 until his retirement in 1983. He had several hobbies which included raising a huge garden, mushroom hunting, setting bank-lines on the Kansas River, playing pitch, and picking many quarts of walnuts to earn extra money for family vacations. Surviving Bud are his five children: Tom Miller, Emporia, KS, Greg Miller (Elaine) of Wamego, Jayne Langvardt (Chris) of Belvue, Diane Pageler (Doug) of Boise, ID, and Donna Jones (Mike) of Belvue. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Eric, Tracy, Jim, Jared, Jay, Tysen, Erin, Megan, Pete, Sarah, Josh; 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister in-law, Martha Miller, of Wamego. A brother, Harold Miller, also preceded Bud in death. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at Belvue Cemetery. Friends and family will gather at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego beginning at 10:00 a.m., until proceeding together to the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Bud will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, where family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. all at the Stewart Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wamego Senior Center or to the Belvue Park, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
