Olive Maurine Wille, 94, of Wamego, KS passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at her residence in Vintage Park of Wamego. She was born September 22, 1919 in Crawfordsville, IA, the daughter of James and Maude (McKee) Martin. Her family moved to Eskridge, KS in 1929, where she graduated from high school in 1936. Olive received her teaching certificate from Emporia State Teacher’s College in 1939, and began teaching in school district 58 near Paxico, and then taught at district 56 south of Belvue, KS near Wells Creek. She then took time off teaching to raise her family and take care of the home. She also worked for the Kansas Insurance Department’s Agents Licensing Division until 1982. Olive was united in marriage to Harold G. Wille on May 1, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Topeka, a former member of the Wells Creek Immanuel U.C.C. and former member of T.O.P.S. She enjoyed traveling and camping, embroidering, was an avid book reader, and baked wonderful pies. She is survived by her two children: Wayne Wille (Lynn) , Topeka, KS, Sandra Thowe (Delmar), Alma, KS; 5 grandchildren: Gina, Tara, Sean , Jay, Dustin, 14 great-grandchildren: Justin, Kacey, Kaylyn, Ashley, Peyton, Ryan, Tiffany, Jessica, Reid, Ryleigh, Trayton, Sadie, Taryn, Dacey; a great-great grandson, Korben. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters: Eula Dillon and Jemima Ruble, five brothers: Tom, Eugene, William, Robert and Bruce. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, with burial following in Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Wille will lie in-state at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.. Memorials are suggested to Vintage Park of Wamego, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS, 66547.
