Richard Nelson Morway, Jr.

Richard Nelson Morway, Jr., 78, Paxico, passed away September 3, 2014 at St. Francis Health Center, Topeka. He was born March 24, 1936 in Boston, MA, the son of Richard and Ruth (Finn) Morway, Sr. He graduated high school from Covina High School in Covina, CA in 1954. Richard was a truck driver for Frito Lay and also contracted for construction. After Richard retired, he ran an antique shop in Paxico, KS, Zeke’s Tradn’ Post. Richard was a longtime member of A.B.A.T.E., H.O.G.S., Elks Lodge and was a founding member of Bacatodies. Richard is survived by his loving companion of 21 years, BJ Speck, Paxico, two sons, Tony and John Morway, McFarland, two daughters, Gale Fiordimondo (Barry), Paxico, and Tina Lannan (Dave), a step mother, Fern Morway, Baldwin Park, CA, three sisters, Joyce Parker, Baldwin Park, CA, Dee Dee Wilkerson, Middleboro, MA, and Susan Grant, Reading, MA, six grandchildren, Crystie Amaro, Valeri Osterson, Richard Smith, Joel Morway, Erica Swenson, and Andrea Fiordimondo, nine great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Blair, and a son, Timothy Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Stewart Funeral Home of Alma, with burial following at the McFarland Cemetery. Richard will lie in-state at Stewart Funeral Home of Alma beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials go to the Better Breathers Club and maybe be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS, 66547.
