Daniel “Dan” D. Fath, 60, a lifetime resident of Wamego, KS, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at The Good Shepherd Hospice House of Manhattan, following a long battle with cancer. Dan was born Sept. 13, 1954 in Manhattan, KS, the son of Donald Joseph and Mary E. (Kelly) Fath. He attended Wamego schools and graduated from Wamego High School. Following school, he worked at Jeffrey Energy Center as a construction worker from 1976 until 1982. He then began farming full-time from 1982 until having to retire from it in 2011 due to his illness. His two sons continue his farming operation today. He married Debra Elaine Eichem on June 3, 1978 at Wells Creek Church, Belvue, KS. She survives of the home. Dan was a member of the Immanuel Faith Community Church Wells Creek, and a past member of the Kansas Builder’s Association. He enjoyed being a farmer and everything about it. He was a proud father and grandfather, loving his family very much. His personality attracted many friends and he always had a smile when saying hello. Survivors also include his two sons: Joseph Fath and his wife Rachel, of Wamego, Jay Fath of Wamego; his mother, Mary E. (Kelly) Chambers of Topeka, KS; two sisters: Janet Messing (Doug) and Kelly Dunn (Brad) all of Hutchinson, KS; one brother: Kevin Fath (Kelli) of Topeka; two grandchildren: Hailey and Caiden Fath of Wamego. He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Judy Hageman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, with burial following in Wamego City Cemetery. Mr. Fath will lie in-state at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to: The Good Shepherd Hospice House of Manhattan, or, Immanuel Faith Community Church Wells Creek, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS, 66547.
