Sarah Elizabeth Stubby, 62, of Wamego, KS, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at her home. Sarah was born July 22, 1952 in Yakima, WA, the daughter of Andrew Elias and Marguerite (Schnoor) Atchison. She was raised in Osage City, KS and graduated from Osage High School. She has been a resident of the Wamego area since 1980. She worked at Jeffrey Energy Center as a Control Room Operator beginning in 1980 until she retired in 2001. She married David Alan Stubby on October 6, 1982 in Westmoreland, KS. He survives of the home. Sarah was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren during Christmas. She was very good cook and also enjoyed sewing, quilting, her gardening, and a round or two of golf. Survivors also include: one son, Colby Brummett and his wife Kelley, of Wamego; two daughters: Patricia Nichols and husband Lonnie, of Pocasset, OK, and Beth Bryson, Abilene, KS; her mother, Marguerite Atchison, of Osage City, KS; two brothers: Richard Ashby and John Atchison, both of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Vanessa Burkdoll, Beloit, KS; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Stubby was cremated. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. A private burial will be held at Burrton Cemetery, Burrton, KS at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Manhattan Homecare and Hospice, or, Wamego Public Library, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, KS, PO Box 48, 66547.
