Frances Fern Rogers, 88, Paxico, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka. Frances was born on January 13, 1926 to Alexander and Ethel (Roosevelt) Rogers in Maple Hill, Kansas. She attended Paxico High School and after she graduated, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and started her own bill collecting company, Roger’s Bill Service. Frances spent several years volunteering her time at the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago for the homeless. She is survived by her boyfriend, Don Deiter, Warner Robins, GA; two sisters, Phyllis Ashcraft, Eudora, KS, and Betty Wilson, Paxico; four nieces, Judy Meinhardt and husband Dan, Paxico, KS, Phyllis Cain and husband Ken, Mustang, OK, Sharon Gilbert and husband Gary, Topeka KS and Linda Schaffer and husband Harry, Topeka, KS; three nephews, Roy Wilson and wife Laura, Gillette, WY, Thomas Cott, Topeka KS, and Tim Wilson and wife Carol, Topeka KS; and several great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, George and Thomas Rogers, and three sisters, Eva Marie Manning, Ellen Cott and Margarette Lane. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2014, at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Frances will lie in-state on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials go to Midland Hospice Care and maybe be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS, 66547.
