Larry A. Hageman, 59, of Delia, KS, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at his home, after his battle with cancer. He had been a resident of Delia for the last 12 years. He was born December 20, 1954 in Manhattan, KS, the son of Leo M. and Eileen W. (Buss) Hageman. He attended Leonardville grade school and graduated from Riley County High School in 1973. Following high school, Larry attended Manhattan Area Vo-Tech to become a mechanic. He began his career of over 30 years as a farm equipment mechanic since 1976 at Oregon Trail Equipment in Marysville and then moved to CTI-John Deere of Wamego until his illness forced him to retire. On June 4, 1983, he married Elaine Marie Sunnenberg in Leonardville, KS. She survives of the home. Larry was a very loving family man. He especially cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, enjoyed fishing and his job as a mechanic. He is also survived by two daughters: Stephanie Sanderson and her husband Matt, Ankeny, IA, and Carina Smith and husband Wheeler, Hoyt, KS; four sons: Kevin and Shawn Holthaus, both of Auburn, KS, Ryan Holthaus and wife Penny, Harveyville, KS, and Jason Holthaus and wife Carol, Topeka, KS; his mother, Eileen Hageman of Leonardville, KS; two brothers: Ron Hageman and wife Donna, and Jerry Hageman and wife Angie, all of Manhattan, KS; and 18 grandchildren. His father preceded him in death in 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Leonardville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Leonardville United Methodist Cemetery. Mr. Hageman will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. followed by a visitation until 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wamego Hospital Foundation or to Grace Hospice of Topeka, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
