Karen Rezac

Karen Rezac, 48, St. Marys, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Community Hospital-St. Marys. Karen was born July 21, 1966 in Manhattan, Kansas to Lawrence and Gertrude “Trudy” (Casper) Schweir. Karen grew up in Belvue, KS and attended St. Marys High School. She worked as a teller at the St. Marys State Bank for over ten years as well as the Farmer’s Union Co-Op in St. Marys, the Rural Water District and MJ’s Coffee House. Karen was a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church for over 20 years and was a creative, devoted mother who was known for her cooking and ability to make friends. She was survived by her mother, two sons, Travis and Troy Rezac, a daughter Kayla Rezac, three brothers, Kenneth, Paul and Wayne Schweir, and loving companion, Scott Deskines, all of St. Marys. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Donna Jean Schweir. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Wamego City Cemetery. Karen will lie in-state from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 and the family will accept friends from 6:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m., all at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials go to the St. Marys United Methodist Church, St. Marys Food Pantry, or the Caring Hearts Humane Society, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
