John Thomas Beavers, Sr.

McFarland- John Thomas Beavers Sr., 52, passed away peacefully at his home in McFarland on October 9th, 2008. Born on April 20th, 1956 in Wamego, he was the son of Jack and Dolorese (Richardson) Beavers. He married Cindy Wagner in Alma, Kansas. The couple later divorced. John proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1973-1976. He was a warehouse foreman for the Topeka Capital Journal for over 20 years. He spent most of his life in McFarland. He was an avid comic book collector. Besides his love for Jesus Christ, all of his family was the most important thing to him. He was a kind hearted one-when someone didn’t have a place to stay, he’d open his home to them- he would never turn anyone away. John was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church of McFarland. Survivors include: his son, John Beaver Jr. of the home; his daughters, Sarah Snyder and husband Kent of Wamego, KS, and Ruby Beavers of the home; his parents, Jack and Dolorese Beavers of McFarland, KS; his sisters Connie Havenstein and husband Gary of McFarland, KS and Dorothy Schooler of Leona, KS; his brother, Fred Beavers of McFarland, KS; his three grandchildren, Tyler, Charlie and Kelsey of Wamego, KS; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral Services will be Monday October 13th at 10:30 a.m. at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Interment with military honors will follow in McFarland City Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home in Wamego Sunday evening from 6-8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in John’s name for Ruby’s educational fund and may be left in care of the funeral home P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
