Dwayne Stewart, 80, Wamego, passed away October 31, 2014 at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.
Dwayne was born on May 25, 1934 in Morganville, Kansas to Vernon and Verona (Lakin) Stewart. He would be united in marriage with his wife, Susie Rayhill on November 12, 1976 in Hiawatha, Kansas. For just under 50 years, Dwayne worked for KOSS Construction and loved every minute of his job. He also enjoyed fishing, watching sports and westerns on TV, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He was survived by his wife, two daughters, Sonia Betsworth (Tab), Tecumseh, KS, and Theresa Starkey (Doug), Topeka, a son, Darrin Stewart (Kim), Wamego, a sister, Betty Riffel, Abilene, ten grandchildren, Cody, Cole, Dani, Lauren, Maci, Monte, Bristol, Peyton, Zeb and Bailey, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, and a daughter, Debbie Stewart.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. The family will accept friends at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to go towards the Dwayne Stewart Memorial Fund which will be designated at a later date and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
