Edna Mae Mayer Taylor, 88, a lifetime resident of Westmoreland, KS, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Westmoreland .
She was born in Moodyville, KS the daughter of Don and Delia A. (McClellan) Reves. She attended grade school in a one room school house near Moodyville, and graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1944. On December 23, 1946, she married Donald “Fuzz” Mayer. He preceded her in death in 1979. She married Dean Taylor on February 11, 1982. He died in 2013.
Edna Mae worked for Pottawatomie County for many years, retiring from the Sheriff’s Department in 1988 . She was a charter member of T.O.P.S. Club #280 and attended weekly meetings for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Moodyville Social Club. She attended the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. Edna Mae was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Smoller (Tom), Topeka, two sons Darrel Mayer and Duane Mayer (Cathy), of Wamego, two sisters, Frances Tunison, Topeka, Verla Webster, Westmoreland, a brother, Lyle Reves, Burlingame, 5 grandchildren, Stephanie, April, Abby, Joshua, and Keith, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Opal Smith.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 12th at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. She will lie in-state from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Tuesday at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm.
