Jackson Thomas Beavers

McFarland- Jackson “Jack” T. Beavers, 75, passed away at his home in McFarland on November 11, 2008. He was born May 9, 1933 in Bedford, Indiana the son of Stanley and Maudie (Robbins) Beavers. He married Phyliss Besta in Wamego. The couple later divorced. He then married Dolorese Richardson and the couple made their home in McFarland. Jack proudly served his country with the United States Army from 1950-1953. He was a tank commander in the Korean War. Jack drove a truck for Hankamer Ready Mix and Victory Sand and also had worked in the warehouse at the Topeka Capital Journal for 15 years. He did body and fender work for most of his life. Jack accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at Mill Creek Baptist Church in McFarland and was a member there. He was willing to help anyone that broke down or needed his help in any way. His motto: A stranger is just a person you’ve never met. He is survived by: his wife Dolorese of the home; his daughters, Dorothy Schooler and husband Lonnie of Leona, KS and Connie Havenstein and husband Gary of McFarland, KS; his son Fred Beavers of McFarland, KS; his 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and his son John Beavers Sr. on October 9, 2008. Funeral Services will be Saturday November 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Burial with military honors will follow in the McFarland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. He will lie in state starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials have been established in Jack’s name for Heartland Hospice, the VA Medical Center of Topeka or Mill Creek Baptist Church of McFarland.
