Westmoreland- Loreen F. Kraushaar, 65, died November 10, 2008 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.
She was born on October 12, 1943 in Wamego the daughter of Keith and Edith (Lyddane) Weeks. She graduated from Wamego High School in 1961 and then obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from Kansas State University in 1972. In 1960 she married Ed Kraushaar. The couple later divorced. Loreen taught 1st and 4th grades at Louisville Elementary School, 2nd grade in Wamego and special education at Abilene High School. She was a member of the Manhattan Eastern Star Chapter 209, a past member of the KNEA, a member of the Alpha Delta Gamma Educational Society, and in the past years was an active volunteer in the 4H and the area Girl Scouts. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially proud of her grandkids.
She is survived by: her daughters, Barbara Zimmerling of Wamego, KS and Terri Nelson of Las Vegas, NV; her sisters Nancy Weeks of Belvue, KS and Judy Mundy of Admire, KS; and her two grandchildren, Shelby Zimmerling and Grant Nelson.
Memorial Services will be Friday November 14th at 10:30 a.m. at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Inurnment will be private and held at a later date. A memorial visitation will be Thursday evening at the funeral home from 7-8:00 p.m. Memorials have been established in Loreen’s name for The American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association and may be left in care of the funeral home P.O.
