Charlene W. Peddicord

Charlene W. Peddicord, 88, of rural Wamego, Kansas, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at her home. Charlene was born June 15, 1926 in Wamego, the daughter of Charles and Stella Warner. She attended Wamego schools and graduated from KSU with a Home Economics degree. She was united in marriage to George Howard “Bud” Peddicord on August 31, 1947 in Wamego. He preceded her in death in March of 2001. She was proud to be a homemaker and was very involved in building the family’s cattle and farming business with Bud. She enjoyed getting together with the neighbor ladies for special occasions, feeding their hired men daily lunches, and in later years enjoyed traveling with her close friend John White. Charlene was a member of the Belvue United Methodist Church, Wamego Study Club for over 50 years, and the Kansas Livestock Association. Survivors include her son, George Howard “Buck” Peddicord II; two grandchildren, Broderic Peddicord and Brianna Peddicord; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Peddicord, all of Wamego; two nieces, Sue Prickett and Trish Dorsey; and four nephews, Don Wise, Bill Hartloff, Rob Hartloff, and Roy Hartloff. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Warner and Louise Hartloff. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2015, at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow at Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Peddicord will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 1st with family greeting friends during visitation from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home.
