Ellen Lorene Trimmell

Ellen Lorene Trimmel, 94, formerly a resident of Wamego, died December 31, 2014 in Salina. She was born November 7, 1920 near Coyville, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Azalia (Puckett) Ridlon. She graduated from Coyville High School and attended Pittsburg State Teachers College. Mrs. Trimmell was a homemaker and taught school in Wilson County, as well as a substitute teacher in Anthony, Wamego and St. Marys school districts. On September 10, 1949, she was united in marriage with William G. Trimmell in the Methodist Church parsonage in Girard, Kansas. They were married 59 years prior to his death in 2009. She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Wamego and did volunteer work at the church Thrift Shop as well as other related church duties. She traveled to many Senior Olympic events with her husband who was a participant. She also helped with the Meals On Wheels program. She was survived by two sons: Roger (Vikki) Trimmell, Mcpherson, and Kent (Shannon) Trimmell, Salina; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, and one brother. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at the Wamego City Cemetery. The family has suggested memorial contributions may be made to the Wamego First United Methodist Church, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
