Rita E. Regnier, 87, of Westmoreland, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her residence in Westmoreland.
Born on February 7, 1921 in rural Westmoreland, she was the daughter of Michael and Sophia (Botzenhart) Magnett. She attended Moodyville Grade School and graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1939. On June 13, 1941, she married Clifford W. Regnier in Blaine, Kansas. The couple lived in California during World War II then moved to Wichita, Kansas and later returned to rural Westmoreland in 1970. Clifford preceded her in death on January 10, 1996. Rita worked for a sewing factory in Onaga and later was a cook for Westmoreland Schools. She loved being outside and working in her flowerbed. She also enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Rita is survived by: her daughter, Jean Knoblauch of Westmoreland, KS; her grandson, Chris Knoblauch and his wife Robin of Westmoreland, KS; her great granddaughter “Jake” Kayle McNally-Knoblauch of Westmoreland, KS; her sister, Isadora Wine of Placentia, CA; and her five nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers Orman and Calvin Magnett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday December 18th at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Blaine, Kansas with burial following in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be said Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Chapel in Westmoreland and visitation will follow until 8:30 p.m. Rita will lie in state starting at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials are designated in Rita’s name for St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
