Robert Gerald Rogers, 73, of St. George, KS, passed away at his home on Friday, April 24th, 2015.
He was born to Samuel Nicholas Rogers, Sr. and Marion Katazna Drapazck Rogers in Oswago, New York on June 16th 1941. He attended Lucky High School in Manhattan, KS, graduating in 1959. He worked as a drywaller most of his working years. He also worked as an insurance agent and owned and operated Bob’s Pizza in St. George.
He married Karen Larson in Toms River, N.J., and from this union three sons were born: David Rogers of Toms River, Jeff Rogers of Colorado Springs, CO, and Chris Rogers of Central City, CO.. He and Karen divorced and he was later united in marriage to Deanna White. From this marriage his fourth son was born, Robert “Robbie” Gerald Rogers, Jr. of Colorado. He later was married to Carol Dabney, with whom his only daughter was born, Amanda Mcarra. His wife Carol preceded him in death in 2011.
He is survived by all of his children; six brothers: George Rogers, Clear Lake, CA, Samuel Rogers, LeRoy, KS, William Rogers, Meade, KS, Carl Rogers, St. George, KS, Theodore Rogers, Oak Harbor, WA, Mark Rogers, Manhattan, KS; two sisters: Marion Alice Finney, Prineville, OR, Cindy Rogers, Wamego, KS; and nine grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Nicholas and Lawrence Rogers.
A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Rogers will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29th , 2015 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. A visitation with family greeting friends will follow the service until 8:30 p.m. Mr. Rogers will lie in-state on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in St. George Cemetery will be private. Memorials are suggested to the Community Health Ministry of Wamego, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
