Dr. James A. “Jim” Divine, 59, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
He was born on November 10, 1949 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Clifford A. and Henrietta (Masek) Divine. He graduated in 1967 from Wahoo High School in Wahoo, Nebraska, followed by graduating from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. He married Linda J. Smith on November 25, 1972 in Davenport. They moved to Wamego, Kansas in 1973 where they made their home and he has served patients at his chiropractic medical clinic until retiring recently due to health reasons.
Dr. Divine was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego and a past member of the St. Bernard’s Knights of Columbus. He thoroughly enjoyed his occupation as a chiropractor. Mostly, he loved being with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; three sons, Brian Divine and his wife, Stacy, of Wamego, Matt Divine and his wife, Trisha, of Halstead, KS, Chad Divine of Huntington Beach, CA; two daughters, Jenny Brase and her husband, Paul, of St. Marys, KS, Jessi Erickson and her husband, Scott, of Wamego; three sisters, Jean Powers and her husband, Mike, Mary Schlosser and her husband, Mike, and Anne Divine, all of Lincoln, NE; three brothers, John Divine and his wife, Kathy, of Bonesteel, SD, Pat Divine, of Las Vegas, NV, Mike Divine and his wife, Marge, and Joe Divine, all of Raymond, NE; 10 grandchildren; Paige, Hannah, Jonathon, Brandon, Payton, Tucker, Ryan, Emma, Brecken, and Drew.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego with Fr. John Pilcher as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Dr. Divine will lie in-state at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., followed by family greeting friends during visitation until 9:00 p.m.
