Robert “Bob” Joseph Lada, 65, of Wamego, KS, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born September 16, 1949 in Seneca, KS, to George A. Lada and Betty Quinn Roach. Robert was raised by his loving grandparents, Jack and Lela Quinn, and grew up in Corning, KS. He graduated from Corning High School in 1967 and attended Highland Community College for 2 years, followed by 2 years at Kansas State before graduating from Clarks School of Business. Robert worked as a Computer Programmer/Machinist for a combined 43 years at Balderson, Inc. and Caterpillar Work Tools in Wamego since 1972. On June 19, 1976, he was united in marriage to Linda Vondemkamp at Kelly, KS.
She survives of the home.
Robert loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed working on cars in his spare time, where he always had a project or two he was working on. Robert was a hard working, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a person of strong faith and took comfort in his relationship with Christ.
Robert is survived by his wife, Linda, of Wamego; two sons: Corey Lada (Crystal), Topeka, KS, and Sam Lada (Rachel), Salina, KS; two sisters: Susan Rooks (Richard), Oviedo, FL, and Christine Ferrel (Kevin), Kansas City; his parents-in-law: Richard and Mary Ann Vondemkamp, of Seneca, KS; and three grandsons: Spencer, Rogan, and Abram. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Bernard Catholic Church of Wamego, with a luncheon for family and friends following. Graveside committal services following the luncheon will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Corning Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 22nd at St. Bernard Catholic Church, with family greeting friends after the Rosary until 9:00 p.m. Mr. Lada will lie in-state at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the “Lada Family Education Fund”, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
