Donald J. Zoeller, 83, Wamego, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at the Wamego City Hospital.
On November 28, 1931, Don was born to Aloysius and Eugenia (Dekat) Zoeller. He lived in the Wamego area all of his life. He attended 8 years of grade school at the Gasser School on Gasser Road, which was named after his great grandfather. Don attended Flush High School and graduated in 1950 and continued to farm with his parents. In 1953, he was united in marriage with Evelyn Fiegener, who survives of the home.
Don loved the farm and to invent. Before he retired, he was a member of the Louisville Volunteer Fire Department. After he retired, he and his wife, Evelyn, traveled to craft shows near and afar. He crafted Pewter figurines mounted on wood or other material and sold them at craft shows. Don was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and served as a cantor and usher for many years.
He is also survived by four daughters: Theresa (Don) Jolly, Phoenix, AZ, Donna Burnette, Waves, NC, Diane (Jason) Tiller, Fremont, CA, and Nancy Scheopner, Phoenix, AZ; and two grandchildren: Kali Grenfell and Blake Burnette, both of Michigan.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego. Don will lie in-state from 1:00-4:00 p.m. with family accepting friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015, all at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the St. Bernard’s Building Fund, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
