Virginia Elizabeth Anderson, 84, a resident of the Manhattan, KS area, passed away at her son’s home in the Lake Elbo community on Monday, January 19, 2009.
She was born on August 7, 1924 at Ramona, KS, the daughter of Steven C. and Elizabeth (McRae) Eskeldson. She attended schools as Ramona, graduating from Ramona High School and attending Kansas State University for two years. Following college, she married Michael L. Anderson, they later divorced. Virginia worked as an air traffic controller for the Civil Service in Denver, CO in the 1950’s. She moved to Ogden, KS in 1966 and worked in the medical records department at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Ft. Riley until her retirement in 1980. During her retirement, she had lived in Manhattan and Lake Elbo. Virginia enjoyed reading, gardening, loved roses, and enjoyed her time of retirement.
Her survivors include three sons, Tim Anderson of Tulsa, OK, Mike Anderson of Boulder, CO, Erik Anderson of Manhattan, KS; and one brother, Steve Eskeldson of Ramona, KS. She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
Virginia has bequeathed her remains to medical science at KU Medical Center. A Remembrance Gathering will be held at a later date. All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.
