Phyllis M. Brazzle, 80, Wamego, KS passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. On December 7, 1934 Phyllis was born to Lawrence and Florence (Jacobs) Jenkins in Stockton, CA. She graduated from Wamego High School in 1952 and attended Kansas State University. She was united in marriage with Elmer Brazzle on June 11, 1952 in Westmoreland, KS. He preceded her in death in 2012. Phyllis loved gardening flowers. Her favorite flowers to grow were irises, lilies, and roses. She was known for her cooking, especially her baked goods which included doughnuts, cookies, pies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls. She was also a cat lover. Phyllis enjoyed crossword puzzles, scrabble, reading, and sewing clothing for her children in her younger years. She is survived by four sons: Mike (Lorita) Brazzle, Madison, KS, Steve (Tammy) Brazzle, Manhattan, KS, David (Cara) Brazzle, Wamego, KS, and Joe (Heather) Brazzle, Madison, KS; eight daughters: Vickie Reed, Wamego, KS, Chris Brazzle, Wamego, KS, Patty (Tod) Salfrank, Wamego, KS, Jennifer Brazzle, Wamego, KS, Jackie (Shane) Ayscue, Henderson, NC, Beth Brazzle, Wamego, KS, Rachel Brazzle, Wamego, and Helen (Chris) King, Wamego, KS; a son-in-law: Rick Tucker, Salina, KS; a brother: James Jenkins, Titusville, FL; forty grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by a son: Anthony Brazzle; two daughters: Cindy Harris and Mary Tucker; and a son-in-law: Ron Reed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego. Burial will follow at the St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Phyllis will lie in-state Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. The family has suggested memorials to the Good Shepherd Hospice House of Manhattan and the Alzheimer’s Association, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
