Mary Elizabeth Fritzson

Mary Elizabeth Fritzson, 83, St. George, KS passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland, KS. On October 24, 1931, Mary was born to August and Hazel (Griffith) Dornbusch Sr. in rural Wamego. She attended grade school at Greenwood Country School and graduated in 1949 from Wamego High School. She married Robert “Bob” Webster and on December 18, 1984 he preceded her in death. On June 30, 1990 she was united in marriage with Harold Fritzson at the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan. He survives of the home. Mary was a people person and will be known for lending a helping hand wherever she could. She was the former president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employee, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Wamego Senior Center, and a bereavement group in Manhattan helping those with lost loved ones. Mary worked for the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service for many years as secretary and filled various positions there. She loved being with her grandchildren and going to their sporting events. She also collected antiques, went to auctions, played cards and bingo, and loved cats. She is also survived by four step-children: Karen Wachsnicht, Blue Rapids, KS, Wendell Fritzson, Blue Rapids, KS, Bernard (Leita) Fritzson, Solomon, KS, and Lori (Curtis) Swenson, Miltonvale, KS; a sister: Helen (Richard) Powell, St. George, KS; a brother: Gus (Donna) Dornbusch, Lincoln, NE; a sister-in-law: Rita Dornbusch, Wamego, KS; thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Dawson; a brother: Harold Dornbusch; a great-grandson: Kent Pope; and a son-in-law: Wayne Wachsnicht. A memorial service will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Visitation will be Monday, June 29, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Private family graveside services will be at a later date. The family has suggested memorials to the St. George United Methodist Church, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
