Evelyn Laura Zoeller, 83, Wamego, KS passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at her home.
Evelyn was born on March 6, 1932 to Vincent and Frances (Nussbaum) Fiegener on a farm northwest of Wamego, KS. She moved with her family, at the age of three, to a farm west of Flush, KS where she attended school. She graduated from Flush High School in 1950. She attended college on a scholarship to Mount Saint Scholastica College in Atchison, KS. She worked for two years at Blue Cross-Blue Shield in Topeka, KS. On May 13, 1953 she was united in marriage with Donald J. Zoeller in Flush. Don preceded her in death on May 25, 2015.
Evelyn and Don lived the rest of their lives on a farm five miles northwest of Wamego. She was a homemaker and mother, making the most of her four daughters’ clothes and preserving a lot of their food. She was a piano teacher, teaching in her home after school on school days, and was involved in direct sales for several years. She also helped with some of the farm work.
She is survived by four daughters: Terry Jolly (Don), Glendale, AZ, Donna Burnette and fiancé, Patrick Munson, Waves, NC, Diane Tiller (Jason), Fremont, CA, and Nancy Scheopner, Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren: Kali Grenfell (Phillip), Livonia, MI, and Blake Burnette, Kalamazoo, MI; a sister: Rita Fairbanks, Topeka, KS; two brothers: Gene Fiegener, Highland, CA, and Paul Fiegener, Albany, OR.
She is also preceded in death by a sister: Ann Tuck; two brothers: Bernard Fiegener and Lawrence Fiegener; twin children on May of 1957, and her parents.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Evelyn will lie in-state Monday, July 27, 2015 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. A Scripture Service will be Monday at 5:00 p.m. with visitation following until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at a later date. The family has suggested memorials to St. Bernard Catholic Church, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
