Edwin Paul Leschber

Manhattan- Edwin Paul Leschber, 94, died February 8, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Village in Manhattan. Born on December 16, 1914 in Taylor, Texas, he was the son of Otto Reinold “O.R.” and Hattie (Schonerstedt) Leschber. On January 2, 1941, he married Mamie “Ruth” Jansan in Waldbert, Texas. The couple then moved to Hiawatha, Kansas to farm. Ruth preceded him in death on July 31, 2003. Edwin was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Manhattan. His survivors include: his son, Allan Leschber and his wife Trina of Portland, OR; his daughter Diane Clark and her husband Brad of Wamego, KS; his six grandchildren, Curtis, Brian and Steven Clark, Kristin Schmidt, and Adam and Eric Leschber. In addition to his wife, Edwin was also preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Graveside Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Monday February 9, 2009 at Valley View Cemetery in Manhattan. Rev. Keith Wiens officiated. A memorial has been established in Edwin’s name for First Lutheran Church of Manhattan and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
