Guy Lloyd Crane

Guy Lloyd Crane, 83, Wamego, KS passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society in Wamego. On August 1, 1932, Guy was born to John “Virgil” and Jennie (Vallentine) Crane on the farm near Ashland, Kansas. He attended Lexington Country School and Ashland High School. Guy attended college at Emporia State University and Kansas State University. He was united in marriage with Peggy Joan Vannaman on March 25, 1956 in the United Methodist Church in Ashland, KS. Peggy survives of the home. Guy grew up on the family farm and worked at Ashland Service Station for several years while in school. He then moved to Manhattan to manage two service stations and later worked at C&H Standard Oil, C&M Motor Supply, and Car Quest Auto Parts. He retired in 1996. Guy was a member of Wamego First United Methodist Church and the Wamego Country Club and was an avid golfer. He is also survived by two daughters: Kim (Tim) Shafer, Abilene, KS, and Jodi (Scott) Carnahan, Wamego, KS; a son: Jim (Nancy) Crane, Guymon, OK; two sisters: Ellen McPhail, Ashland, KS, and Irene Unruh, Garden City, KS; a sister-in-law: Pat Brown, Choctaw, OK; a brother-in-law: Don Vannaman, Kansas City, MO; eleven grandchildren: Jacob Shafer, Ben Shafer, Anna Shafer, Mandy Chavez Mason Crane, Mirranda Crane, Macheala Crane, Jamie Parker, Jennie Parker, Quin Parker, and Zac Carnahan; and one great grandchild: Allie Chavez. He is preceded in death by two grandchildren: Amanda Crane and Marshall Crane; and a sister: Eula Mae. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Interment will follow at the Wamego City Cemetery. The family will accept friends an hour before the service at the funeral home.
