Marilyn was born October 16, 1935 in Manhattan, KS, the daughter of Wayne E, and Irene (Whitacre) Schurle. Her family moved to Alma in her childhood years. She graduated from Alma High School and had been a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Alma. She lived in Alma most of her life, until moving to Wamego several years ago to live closer to her daughter Robin.

Marilyn worked as a nurses-aide for many years. She worked at the Alma Manor for 10 years, and also for Omni Care as a homecare nurse in the Wabaunsee County and Topeka areas. More recently, she spent many hours helping her daughter raise water lilies which they supplied to nursery centers. She was a very loving and dedicated mother, being involved with Brownies and Girl Scouts, and taught Sunday school for several years. She especially treasured her time with her daughter and granddaughters.
Survivors include her daughter, Robin Ebert and her husband Gary, of Flush, KS; a brother, Dennis Schurle and his wife Sarah, of Alma, KS; three granddaughters, Danielle Sumners and her husband Robert, of Manhattan, KS, Chanel Ebert, Manhattan, KS, and Chyann Ebert, Flush, KS; and a very dear friend, Ed Van Patten, of Lawrence, KS.
