View Memorial Slideshow Edward “Ed” Simmer, 63, Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. On July 19, 1952, Ed was born to Robert and Elaine (Junod) Simmer in Ft. Riley, Kansas. Ed was in the Class of 1970 from Wamego High School and attended Manhattan Area Technical College. He worked for Wilbert Vault Company for a number of years in Wamego. He enjoyed Nascar, country music, attending the Cow Creek Opera in Havensville, KS, and watching the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas State football. He is survived by his father, three brothers: Frank Simmer, Gladstone, MO, Pat Simmer (Sandy), Wamego, KS, and Tom Simmer (Maxine), Hiawatha, KS; one sister: Coleen Falk (Mark), Alma, KS; ten nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Mike Simmer. Memorial Services for Ed will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Inurnment will follow at the Wamego City Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The family has suggested memorials to the Ed Simmer Memorial Fund which will be designated at a later date, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
