Ray Simon, 81, Alma, KS passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS.
On February 20, 1934, Ray Melvin Simon was born to Harlan and Florence (Maas) Simon on a farm west of Alma, KS. He graduated in the Alma High School Class of 1952. He worked for Good Year Tires for several years laying tires, balancing, and managing time. Ray was united in marriage on June 14, 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma to Marilyn Diepenbrock. Marilyn survives of the home.
Ray was an usher, elder, trustee, and a Sunday school superintendent for St. John Lutheran Church. He is also a former president of AAL and member of Rubber Workers #307. Ray enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, and go camping. He also loved his grandchildren very much.
He is also survived by a daughter: Linda Conner, Thorton, CO; a son: Richard (Kody) Goodland, KS; a sister: June McLain (John) Council Grove, KS; four grandchildren: Emily Conner, Jacob Simon, Katie Ferris, and Quennton McCombs; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son, Kurt, and a brother, Delbert.
A memorial service for Ray will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Alma, KS. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the St. John Lutheran Church or Midland Hospice Care, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
