Thomas Anthony Steinberger, Jr.

Thomas Anthony Steinberger, Jr. 84, Wamego, passed away Monday December 28, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. On September 30, 1931, Tom was born to Thomas and Christine (VenJohn) Steinberger, Sr. in Fairbury, NE. Farming was Tom’s life. He especially enjoyed working with cattle. He also raised swine and crops. He was united in marriage with Anita Straub on April 7, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Flush, KS. He is survived by his wife, two daughters: Theresa Breymeyer (Randy), and Cara Brazzle (David), both of Wamego, KS; a brother: George Steinberger (Marge), Richmond, KS; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by three children: Cathy, Mary Beth, and David; and a sister: Pauline Simms. A Memorial Mass for Tom will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2015 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego, KS. A private burial will be held at a later date at St. Bernard Cemetery. Tom will lie in-state from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2015 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. A Rosary will follow at 5:30 with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
