Bruce W. Johnson, 61, of Manhattan, KS, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at his home following a long illness.
He was born December 21, 1954 in Burlington, KS, the son of Raymond and Margarite (Ford)Johnson, and attended grade school in Burlington, and high school in St. Claire, MO. He worked in construction all of his life, most recently in the Manhattan area at Associated Insulation from 1995 to 2005, and then Midwest Drywall until 2007 when his illness forced him to retire. He married Debbie A. Clanton on May 24, 1985 in Marysville, KS. They later separated. He was a past member of the Manhattan Carpenters Union Local 918. Bruce enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, and was a very good artist, especially at painting.
His survivors include, two sons: Ray Johnson, Wamego, KS, Kyle Johnson, Topeka, KS; one daughter, Staci Clanton, Wamego, KS; two brothers: Stanley Johnson, Bothell, WA, William Johnson, Bangkok, Thailand; and four grandchildren: Alexia, Sariah, Samantha, and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Delbert and Kenneth, and a sister, Joyce Carter.
Cremation has taken place. A time of celebrating his life with family and friends will be held at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, Thursday, March 24th, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to help with costs, and may be left in care of: Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
