Lifelong Stockton resident, Fern McDonald, passed away at the age of 87, Sunday, June 7, 2009 at St. Mary’s Nursing Home, St. Mary’s, Kansas.
Fern was born April 10, 1922 the daughter of Carl and Elizabeth (Reed) Falk in Durango, Colorado. She was a graduate of Stockton High School. Fern was a member of Business and Professional Women (BPW) for 30 years. She spent 38 years of her working life with Hindman and Krysl Law firm as a legal secretary, and continued as D.A. Hindman’s personal secretary until his death. Fern’s hobby was helping care for her 4 grandchildren, who she enjoyed so much.
Survivors include her son Chris McDonald and wife Karen of Wamego; 4 grandchildren Charlie and wife Alissa of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cliff of Topeka, Jessica and husband Jason Brack of Washington, Illinois, Jenny and husband Derek Parthemer of Wamego; 7 great grandchildren Brevin, Albany, Nick, Ezra, Ty, Tessa, and Aly; and a sister Mary Eckart of Stockton/Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Pearl Fulghum.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 12, 2009 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church of Stockton at 10:00 a.m. with Father Galen Long as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
