Anna Fern (Peddicord) Bahner

Anna Fern Bahner, 93, a lifetime resident of rural Belvue, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Vintage Park of Wamego. Ann was born April 19, 1923 in Wamego, Kansas, the daughter of Russell “Dick” Peddicord and Ida (Luttig) Peddicord. She graduated from Wamego High School in 1946. She worked for 43 years at First National Bank of Wamego, obtaining the position of Vice –President, before retirement in 1986. On September 24, 1947 she married Alfred “Dutch” Bahner. He preceded her in death in 2007. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Wells Creek until it’s closing, and then became a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Manhattan. She was also a former member of the Vermillion E.H.U., served as the area treasurer for American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. She also volunteered as a 4-H leader and teaching Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed attending K-State football games, watching sporting events and activities with her grandkids, and the occasional trip to the casinos. Survivors include: her daughter, Kathy Douglas and husband Denny of Wamego; her son, Kim Bahner and wife Candy of Belvue; her sister, Dorothy Vilven of Salt Lake City, Utah; four grandchildren: Kacy Seitz, Ashley Douglas, Kari Roberts, Tyson Bahner, and six great-grandchildren She was also preceded in death by a sister Juanita Chrest, and a brother James Peddicord. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7th , at 10:30 a.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, with burial following in Wamego City Cemetery. A visitation with family greeting friends will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Bahner will lie in-state Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Peace Lutheran Church of Manhattan, or the American Cancer Society, and may also be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
