Edith Tibbetts Hamblin, 88 passed away Friday, July 3rd at her home in Denton, Texas.
She was born April 7, 1921 in Westmoreland, Kansas to Lee and Catherine Tibbetts. Edie was an LVN nurse and retired from Parkway Hospital in Houston where she worked for 20 years. She was very well thought of by her co-workers. The doctors and nurses presented her a plaque one year, out of the blue, that said she was the "bright spot in their work day" and took her out to dinner. She was always happy and she made everyone around her feel happy. She could always be counted on to play board games with her grandchildren and later with her great grandchildren. Two generations of kids played with the same toys she kept on hand in her home.
Edie is survived by: her sister Mary K Jones; her two sons, Bob Hamblin and wife Winnie and Dave Hamblin and wife Van; her daughter-in-law Pat Hamblin; her 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son William (Bill) Hamblin, her Granddaughter Karen Hamblin and six brothers and sisters, Leonard Tibbetts, Glenn Tibbetts, Edward Tibbetts, Eleanor Tibbetts, May Osterholtz and Leona Horner.
A Graveside inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1st, at Jenkins-Admantha Cemetery near Westmoreland, Kansas.
