View Memorial Slideshow Alberta “Bert” M. Uhlrich, 86, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Topeka. Bert was born September 19, 1930 in Tipton, KS the daughter of Joseph J. and Evan Corpstein Moritz. She was a graduate of St. John’s Catholic School in Beloit, KS and graduated from Marymount College of Salina, KS in 1952. On July 20, 1957, Bert was united in marriage to John Bernard Uhlrich. Together, they owned and operated Uhlrich Chevrolet in Horton, KS from 1958 until selling the dealership and moving to Wamego in 1974. After moving, Bert worked as an accountant at Kansas Farm Bureau for a few years and then at Balderson Inc. from 1978 until her retirement in 1995. John preceded her in death on March 23, 2013. She was very active in her church. She was the religious education coordinator at St. Leo’s Church of Horton and also at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego where she also sang in the choir and as Cantor. She also served on the Board of Directors of Wamego City Hospital, Wamego Community Foundation, and the Columbian Theatre. Her memberships also included the Wamego Hospital Auxiliary, and Wamego Country Club. Her survivors include: one daughter, Beth Ann Uhlrich of Wamego, Kansas; two sons: Mark Uhlrich and wife Kristin of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jay Uhlrich and wife Lori of Topeka, Kansas; two brothers: David Moritz of Arlington, Texas, J.R. Moritz of Tempe, Arizona; and three grandchildren: Rylee, Lauren, and Luke. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne McKenzie in 2013, and two brothers: Stan and Tom Moritz. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Mrs. Uhlrich will lie-instate beginning at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. and family greeting friends during a visitation until 8:30 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to St. Bernard’s Church Building Fund, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, P.O. Box 48, 66547.
