Benjamin Armendariz, 83, Wamego, KS passed away Thursday, November 25, 2016 at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society in Wamego. On November 6, 1933 Ben was born to Victoriano and Guadalupe Armendariz in Mexico. When he was young, Ben moved to Kansas with two brothers, Pablo and Romulo. Together, they started a farming business in Manhattan that eventually expanded to Wamego. Armendariz Gardens kept the family busy for many years. After retirement, Ben still spent time everyday with Pablo and Julieta, Pablo’s wife. Ben enjoyed fishing and gathering around a table to play cards with the guys. He taught his youngest granddaughter, Sophia, how to become quite the card player. Ben will always be remembered for the laughter and happiness he brought to family and friends. Ben is survived by his sons, Abdi (Nicole), of Shawnee, KS; Eduardo, of Phoenix, AZ; Ponciano (Angie), of Blue Springs, MO; Rogelio, of Branson, MO, and 7 grandchildren. Ben is preceded in death by his wife, Alicia and daughter, Nancy.
