View Memorial Slideshow Dorothy June Swatzell, 87, St. George, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. On December 4, 1929, Dorothy was born to Enos and Lula (Auldridge) Eller in Gaylord, KS. She was united in marriage on September 11, 1947 with Cecil Swatzell in Claremore, OK. They would move to St. George in 1969 where they would live out the rest of their lives. Dorothy was a kind, social person. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including having dinner and going out for coffee. She was an animal lover and known as the “Queen of Garage Sales” as she loved to shop. Dorothy was a member of the St. George United Methodist Church and St. George Happy Go Lucky Seniors. She is survived by three children: William “Bill” Swatzell, St. George, KS, Lynda Phillips (Ron), St. George, KS, and Debra Speirs (Lewis), Alvin, TX; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 year, a son: Robert Swatzell; and six siblings: Ramond Eller, Carl Eller, Paul Carden, Eloise Hays, Ruth Olisar, and Quinton Eller. Funeral service for Dorothy will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial in the St. George City Cemetery. Visitation will place one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the St. George United Methodist Church, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
