WAMEGO – Robert “Bobby” Massieon, 67, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Overland Park, KS. Bobby was born August 30, 1949 in Wamego, the son of Robert L. and Patricia L. (White) Massieon. He graduated from Wamego High School in the class of 1967 and attended Kansas State University for two years before returning to work with his father on the family farm. In 1970, he started Massieon Custom Harvesting, which his son J.T. now operates. He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego, the Kansas Livestock Association, and the U.S. Custom Harvesters. Bobby married Katie Scully on April 18, 1970, she survives. They divorced in 2012, remaining close friends. Cutting silage was Bobby’s passion and he loved being out in the fields working with his crew. In his retirement, he started fishing almost every day. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people, had many friends and never knew a stranger. People knew him to be a kind-hearted and generous person. His survivors also include his children: Mollie Nusz and husband Scott, of Olathe, KS, and J.T. Massieon and his wife Staci, of Wamego, KS; a sister, Jacquie Winter and husband Tom, of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren: Thomas, Emilee, Layla, John, and Edward. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Massieon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends during a visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.
