View Memorial Slideshow Alta Marie Snapp, 84, Wamego, KS passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Wamego Health Center in Wamego. On October 2, 1932, Alta Marie Snapp was born to Fred and Bessie (Smith) Boman in rural Republic County, KS. Alta attended grade school in Scandia, KS and graduated from Belleville High School in Belleville, KS. She was united in marriage with Dale Snapp on January 16, 1956 at the First United Methodist Church in Belleville, KS. He survives, of their home. Alta’s family meant everything to her. She especially loved spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alta spent many years helping Dale with their family business. She also provided home day care for many children in the Wamego area. Alta enjoyed sewing, square dancing, fishing and camping. She especially enjoyed traveling with Dale all over the U.S. including trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and numerous locations for Dale’s bowling tournaments, and winter trips to Alamo, Texas. She is also survived by three daughters: Janet Seematter (Terry), Manhattan, KS, Connie Carr (Kent), Wamego, KS, and Pam Havenstein (Mark), Westmoreland, KS; one son: Randy Snapp (Lori), Holt, MO; one sister: Alice Kelley (Clarence), Belleville, KS; two brothers: Loren Boman (Helen), Hebron, NE, and Gary Boman (Sue), Belleville, KS; a sister-in-law: Delores Boman, Hebron, NE; nine grandchildren: Christopher Seematter (Janae), Caitlin Davis (Cody), Lindsay Bryant (Travis), Brad Havenstein, Zach Havenstein, Greg Snapp, Chad Snapp, Allison Snapp, and Tyler Snapp; and three great-grandchildren: Westin Seematter, Anna Seematter, and Colton Davis. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, LaVon Boman. Funeral services for Alta will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in the Westmoreland City Cemetery. Alta will lie in state Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the funeral home from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. with the family accepting friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Community Homehealth or the Wamego First United Methodist Church, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
